It should be classified as a light oolong. It is also a high-mountain organic tea (i.e. environmentally friendly). Tea raw is collected at the height of 2300 meters. In the final stage, it is lightly roasted. The production technology is almost identical to the Taiwanese methodology.

   台湾乌龙茶是中国十大名茶之一，是台湾在世界上有名的茶叶。近年来随着两岸交流不断加深，台湾优良的茶树品种和先进的制茶技术，能够通过腾冲高山多湿的气候环境而得到很好的发挥。腾冲“极边”乌龙茶具有如下特点：
   1、香气独特，热泡花香四溢，杯底冷香馨人。在乌龙茶品中，青心乌龙是高海拔种植的特选品种。腾冲的高纬度、高海拔、高湿度、高温差是形成腾冲乌龙茶高香的根本原因。
   2、滋味醇厚，喉韵甘润持久。由于茶区降雨充沛，空气湿度大，又高海拔生长比较缓慢（每年可采收三季），茶叶内含物质较为丰富，茶汤自然醇和、韵味悠长。
   3、叶底厚实显绿，经久耐泡。种植基地周边森林覆盖率达80%以上，土壤中有机质含量高。特别是公司采用有机生产管理模式，大量施用有机肥，使茶叶肉厚叶重，所制成的产品抗氧化能力，较其他普通产品能多泡三至五泡。

“极边”牌高山乌龙茶产于被益为“极边第一城”的西南边陲重镇腾冲，有世界上最密集的火山群与温泉群。茶园分布于海拔1900-2300米之间，森林覆盖率在80%以上，年降雨量1900mm以上，年平均气温约13℃。其土质十分肥沃，土壤中的有机质含量极高。
本产品采用青心乌龙（软枝）茶树鲜叶为原料，通过先进制茶工艺，并按照有机生产管理精制而成。
